Fundraising can be stress free when you remember three important points:
Below, we have given you a list of the most common pool-related ways to fundraise.
Out of the 25 frames that is available during the exhibition, reserve a number of these frames for your mini-tournaments.
For example, you may want to reserve 12 frames, for 12 tournaments over a period of 12 week.
Charge £3 to enter each tournament, and the winner of each week goes forward to play the professional.
Just ten players per tournament will raise £360!
After 12 weeks, you have 12 frames allocated, raised £360 and generated income for your venue!
A traditional and popular way to fundraise - people love raffles.
However, instead of just raffling traditional prizes, include frames as the prizes to make it more interesting - someone may get drawn out who has never played, and hence provide a little comedy for the audience!
It is recommended to charge perhaps £5 for a ticket, but this includes their first drink free and a finger buffet.
The cost of the drink and food can be deducted from the £5, leaving the rest to go towards your fundraising target!
This is possibly the easiest way to raise funds.
The earlier you get some sorted, the more you will raise. Plonk them along your bar and the pennies soon add up!
If you would like some collection tins, then please do let us know by contacting us here and leaving your details and we will contact Hearing Dogs to get some sent up to you.
It is a legal requirement of ours to collect your name and address before we send any collection tins out.
All funds raised this way goes towards your target.
To provide an example, you can reserve 10 frames for the top 10 fundraisers.
We will provide you with sponsor forms to give to all those who want to play (the more, the better), and the top ten fundraisers secure a frame against the professional.
It is suggested that a prize for the top fundraiser will help - perhaps a jug of beer, a wine bottle or even announce the highest fundraiser will play the professional in a best-of-5 match!
With a number of people fundraising, this is sure to accumulate a decent total.
We would recommend setting a minimum target of £20 per sponsor form.
Large sums of money can be daunting, but if you are having an exhibition, then by dividing the target by the number of frames, you'll be left with 25 smaller targets.
Therefore, if your target was £500, then each of the 25 frames would have a very small target of £20.
We would provide you with the sponsorship forms to hand out to each player.
Let us know if you would like these sponsor forms here.
As most leagues have several dozens of players at least with many going into the hundreds or even thousands, this simple way can raise a large sum of money in an instant.
Simply by increasing the registration fees by £1 and pledging that pound to charity, this would take away the need to pay for an exhibition at the end of the season’s presentation night.
Simple, effective and a great fundraiser!
If you are just a player - why not put this idea forward to your committee!
By adopting Hearing Dogs for Deaf People as your chosen charity, you could perhaps encourage all those you know to do the same.
If a collective group of people in an area can encourage their locals, companies and family and friends to support Hearing Dogs, you'll be absolutely amazed at what can happen.
It is not always about raising funds, but raising the profile - Hearing Dogs have been around for over a quarter of a century, but there's still an amazing number of people who don’t realise they exist, nor know of the difference they make to deaf people.
