Midsummer Place, Milton Keynes, Smashes Fundraising Record
2008-08-12
Midsummer Place in Milton Keynes, raised £1,539.71 and has smashed the record for the amount raised through public donations... The event at Midsummer Place, was our most successful event to date in terms of the amount raised through individual donations. The demand from 10.30am until 6pm was greater than the number of pool frames available and as a result there was non-stop action during this time, which pleased the many spectators who had gathered to watch... A total of 88 frames were played on the Saturday, with the public winning a credible 5. On the Sunday, in six hours we still managed to get 58 frames under our belts, with the shoppers winning two. The response was phenomenal and a crowd puller. The number of volunteers with Hearing Dogs who came in stood at a very impressive four and they were all different breeds which was a nice bonus. This meant that it was a very visible fundraising event with a difference! Due to the number of requests as to when Charity Exhibitions were putting another event on, we can only apologise as we await management's decision as to whether to host another event, but by the response of all concerned, we are quietly confident that we will make another appearance. We certainly hope so, as we enjoyed it as much as everyone else seemed to! With special thanks to Ann Ramsden and her daughter, Abbie for organising the volunteers, and also to Jane Minard with Hearing Dog Iris, Janet with Gypsy and Doreen with her dog in training Larrie. Without their help, it would not have been possible for us to reach the phenomenal total of £1,539.71. A mention must go to professional Eddie Barker who gave up a day to offer his services in difficult conditions due to the weather creating moisture on the tables. Thank you Eddie.
